A note about the puppies..

Thank you for your interest in a Sonesta Cavalier puppy. I am always grateful to hear from families who are thoughtfully considering adding a Cavalier to their home. Each Sonesta breeding is carefully planned with the hope of continuing to improve the next generation while raising puppies who are healthy, well-socialized, and lovingly prepared for the right homes.

I usually breed a few times a year. I keep a small waiting list. I take great care in matching my puppies with a home that is well suited to the puppy’s needs, temperament, and future.

My puppies are raised in my home, underfoot, with daily care, attention, and early socialization. By the time they are 6 to 7 weeks old, they are introduced to the other dogs in the household, both large and small, so they are comfortable, confident, and well socialized before leaving for their new homes at around 10 weeks of age. Before they leave here, they are also well on their way to being house trained.

Health and soundness are particularly important to me. All my breeding dogs are examined and cleared each year by a canine cardiologist and a canine ophthalmologist, and they are also cleared for patella’s. They have been DNA tested for curly coat, dry eye, and Episodic Falling Syndrome.

When I have evaluated my show prospects and know which puppies may be available, I do require a visit to my home. I believe it is important for you to see where your prospective puppy has been raised, and it is equally important for me to feel confident and comfortable with the homes my puppies will be joining. I am always happy to answer questions and talk through the process with you.

These questions help me learn more about your home, lifestyle, and hopes for a Cavalier, so I can thoughtfully consider whether one of my puppies may be the right fit. Some questions may feel personal, but they come from a place of care and responsibility. My goal is always to make sure each puppy is placed in a loving, suitable, lifelong home.
